Professional Experience

Dr. Atwa Radwan is a senior agricultural scientist and technology leader with more than two decades of experience across research, technology management, digital agriculture, and integrated pest management. He serves as Professor of Integrated Pest Management and Biological Control at the Agricultural Research Center in Egypt, where he also Director the Technology Management and Commercialization Office TMCO, leads the Smart Agriculture Clinic SAC project, and acts as Executive Director of the ARC–INTLAC–CABI agribusiness incubation program and Digital Agriculture Extension Services officer at the National Wheat Campaign in ARC System. His career includes a decade of service at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia as Supervisor of the Science, Technology and Innovation Unit and Scientific Advisor to the Deanship of Scientific Research and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. He has also held progressive research roles at the Plant Protection Research Institute and contributed to national and regional agricultural development initiatives through collaborations with FAO, USAID, ICARDA, and leading universities worldwide.

Practical Expertise

Dr. Radwan’s expertise spans integrated pest management, biological control, digital transformation in agriculture, smart farming systems, and technology transfer. He has led major national and international R&D projects, including developing AI-driven decision support tools, early-warning systems for red palm weevil, and integrated digital platforms supporting sustainable production. His work includes building smart agriculture models such as the Smart Agriculture Clinic SAC, guiding more than 150 researchers in technology commercialization, and supporting over 30 agribusiness startups. He has extensive experience in field experimentation, biological control applications, nanotechnology-based pest management, capacity-building programs for researchers, and designing national agricultural extension innovations. His contributions earned multiple awards, including international medals for smart agriculture innovations and recognition for national food security initiatives.

Educational Background and Training

Dr. Radwan holds a PhD in Entomology from Cairo University, an MSc in Plant Protection from Ain Shams University, and a BSc in Entomology and Pesticides from Cairo University. His academic trajectory is supported by extensive participation in global research collaborations, advanced scientific training, and authorship of numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and applied research outputs in integrated pest management and agricultural biotechnology. He also received specialized training related to digital agriculture, technology innovation, scientific research methodologies, and international project leadership through his work with national research centers, universities, and international organizations.

Dr. Atwa Radwan possesses a significant scientific legacy, having authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of plant protection, entomopathogenic nematodes, digital agriculture, and biopesticides, published in esteemed international journals such as Scientific Reports, Agricultural and Forest Entomology, Journal of Economic Entomology, and CABI Agriculture and Bioscience. His research endeavors encompass groundbreaking initiatives in smart agricultural extension systems, nanoparticle-based pest management, and integrated biological control. In acknowledgment of his scientific achievements, Dr. Radwan has played a pivotal role in the development of various innovative technologies and applied research outputs, with some currently being evaluated for intellectual property protection. Throughout his professional journey, he has garnered numerous institutional and national accolades for his outstanding contributions to agricultural research, scientific advancement, and leadership in the digital transformation of the agricultural industry.
