
The Kingdom Achieved its Highest Historical Score in the E-Government Development Index
Issued by the United Nations since its launch more than 20 years ago, where it ranked 31st this year 2022, compared to 43rd in 2020. The Kingdom was among the best-performing countries globally in the first sub-index for electronic services among 193 countries, achieving 32nd place with 82% this year. The results of the index were announced today, Wednesday, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York. This index is considered one of the most important international indicators that measure the development of digital governments in the areas of electronic services, communications, infrastructure, and human capital worldwide.
His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah Al-Sawaha, honored colleague Eng. Mahmoud Al-Zoubi, Executive Consultant for Al-Rowad Group and Kaizen Company, and expert in improving e-government services, for his outstanding efforts and effective contribution in supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to raise its ranking by 12 places in the United Nations E-Government Development Index report for 2022, reaching its highest historical result and exceeding the baseline for Vision 2030, by the grace of God.
The Kingdom ranked among the best countries in the world in providing government service information and making open government data available and shared with citizens and business sectors at 100%. The report also praised the maturity of digital government regulations, which reached 96%, and the quality of digital specifications for government services excelled at 94%, while the availability and spread of digital government services reached 81%. It advanced 23 ranks globally in electronic participation and consultations directed at individuals and business sectors to survey their views on legislation and regulations with economic and social impact. The report praised the Kingdom’s exceptional performance in all areas of e-government development, as it was the most advanced within the scope of countries similar to it economically and socially. The city of Riyadh also ranked fourth globally in the use of technology and its applications within the “very high range” among 193 cities around the world.
